LEGAL & COMPLIANCE COUNSEL – ABU DHABI – ENERGY SECTOR

  

·         Abu Dhabi based (experience in the Middle East is not essential)

·         Must be in the range of 5-10 PQE

·         Must have western education and common law background

With more than 50,000 employees in 90 countries and a century-long service history, our client is a global Oil & Gas service organization with a presence across all key energy locations. Due to growth and promotion, our client is looking for an experienced Legal & Compliance Counsel to be based out of their Abu Dhabi office.

The Legal & Compliance Counsel will be responsible for a key GeoMarket; Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, UAE and Yemen. Working autonomously in managing the clients legal affairs in the Gulf GeoMarket and will be entrusted with advising senior management on critical legal matters, whilst maintaining a keen focus on key business drivers.

 

Key responsibilities/accountabilities

n  Overall responsibility and accountability for the management of the legal affairs of the Gulf GeoMarket;

n  Advise GeoMarket management team on legal risks and exposures;

n  Interface with top-tier client executives and senior government officials;

n  Lead high stakes negotiations, participate in innovative deal structuring (JV, strategic alliances, M&A, divestitures, etc.) and produce commensurate bespoke agreements;

n  Manage outside counsel and litigation;

n  Assist in the management of issues relating to client contracts, corporate administration, trade compliance and corporate compliance;

n  Monitors new laws, rules and regulations affecting company and makes recommendation.

The successful candidate will possess an excellent western education in common law, trained within an international law firm with 5-10 PQE, worked within the energy sector and have the drive and ambition to join a global team of international lawyers.
