International Arbitration Immediate Partner role

London (Central), London (Greater) (GB)
13 Oct 2016
12 Nov 2016
Contract Type
Full time, Permanent

Established in the 1800’s, this firm has been part of the legal fabric of the USA. There are a number of clients which the firm’s lawyers have represented for over 100 years.  The firm has an excellent global footprint and has had an office in London since the 1970’s.  The core sectors for the firm are energy, natural resources, financial services (working with some of the world’s leading financial institutions), real estate, construction, and technology.

The role:

The London office does not have an international arbitration capability.  The firm runs its practices on a global practice group basis so this is very much a hire by London, New York and Washington DC.  This is important, as you will work very closely with the US offices. This is an important hire in London and the partners are trying to be as lateral as they can and hence the firm will consider a senior associate or counsel as a partner.  There is a real commitment to this hire and the firm can move very quickly; you will meet the London partners, some key US partners on videoconference and then travel to the US.

This is a role for an arbitration partner with commercial arbitration experience or investor state experience.  Although the firm does undertake some investor state work, the firm does not have a specialist investor state practice but would be interested in expanding into the area in London.  Historical business generation and ideally a client following are required although the firm does undertake contentious practices and does not have unrealistic expectations from UK partners.

Edwards Gibson acts as an employment agency for permanent roles.
