An excellent opportunity to join a highly successful fund with solid AUM and continued high performance. Reporting to the Global General Counsel (GGC) this role will support the GGC, but will also be expected to manage and take ownership of high level, complex, sensitive or strategic legal matters. Responsibilities include assisting or running key legal initiatives across all major business sectors, identifying legal constraints and advising on the impact to the business.

The role will liaise with external counsel and key business stakeholders, driving significant projects from a legal perspective and supporting the GGC to analyse fundamental legal decisions to enable the Company to successfully complete business initiatives.

The successful incumbent will be UK qualfiied, and will have worked within or with the hedge-fund sector.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing legal advice on new business initiatives, issues relating to the structure of the business, documentation and trading.
  • Advising Management on a variety of complex routine and non-routine legal and sometime-related compliance issues.
  • Key assistance/oversight of the legal team’s negotiating and drafting of fund documentation and all ancillary documents relating to investors and ensuring final sign off has been completed.
  • Assist/lead on general commercial contracts undertaken group-wide.
  • Manage and administer quarterly board meetings for key fund clients and provide legal reports thereto.

Experience Required

  • UK qualified;
  • Demonstrable investment knowledge across a broad range of investment strategies and products;
  • Strong funds knowledge;
  • Experience in-house within another hedge fund or asset management company;
  • Knowledge and prior focus on UK and off-shore domiciled funds;
  • Depth of experience to lead and liaise with law firm partners; and
  • The ability to provide advice and communicate at board level.
