Are you concerned about limited prospects for progression at your current firm? Would you relish the opportunity to be part of a practice with both high quality work/clients and a truly diverse caseload?

This law firm’s construction practice has really taken off, particularly in recent years as significant lateral partner hires have become embedded.  The construction group takes on a fairly even amount of contentious and non-contentious work, and is therefore well placed to hire construction lawyers who have had a mixed litigious and non-litigious construction and engineering background to date.  However, they are more than happy to accommodate solicitors who have chosen to specialise more on the disputes or transactional side, if they would prefer to retain a similar concentration, or to broaden out again at this stage.

Joining this firm, you would benefit from their amenable office culture, in terms of moderate expectations re billable hours, and a less pressurised environment than most City practices.  The advantages you gain from a work-life balance and ethos perspective, however, will not automatically equate to a downgrade in work quality; the team may not consistently take on huge, international cases, but your caseload will still involve some cross-border matters, and the quality of the cases on the whole is very high.

Whilst this is not a partner-designate position as such, the impressive growth trajectory of the department will inevitably lead to very strong promotion prospects in due course for ambitious team members who make a valuable contribution to this continued expansion.  The firm has a very good track record for internal promotions, and they have a transparent and fair framework.

One appealing facet of this role is the variety of clients and work to which you would gain exposure.  Prominent contractors, prestigious international retailers, significant public bodies at the heart of central government, overseas production companies, education and health organisations, to name a few areas in which they team has enjoyed sustained success.  Having such a diverse range of clients enables team members to take key responsibility for areas they are passionate to develop further.

With room for more than one hire, the firm is keen to speak with people at the mid-senior and senior level, say from around 3-4 pqe upwards (or equivalent).
