MEDIA LAWYER: MUSIC/AV/PRODUCTION 5-6 YEARS' PQE+LONDON MATERNITY COVER - TO START SEPTEMBER 2018(REF: 1838)Our client is a company that specialises in the production and distribution of long-form audio visual programmes such as documentaries and live concert shows. Previously an independent company, it has seen success working alongside artists such as the Rolling Stones, Queen, The Who, The Doors and Eric Clapton. It is now part of a leading label, enhancing its ability to promote & market priority acts and breaking artists. The role is a maternity cover to cover the Head of Legal who will be going on leave in September 2018. The Business Affairs team is currently made up of the Head of Legal, a qualified lawyer and the legal support team. The culture of the company is laid back with an old classic music company feel. Many of the employees have worked with the company for a number of years and consider themselves to be "part of the family." The company is currently undergoing a transformation to accommodate the demands of being part of a major label and it is recognising the need to re-invent itself in order to work with rising superstars and cutting-edge labels. It is currently a team that is growing in strength and skill set. As such, the team needs someone who will come in and contribute to this continuing development. You will nurture the team but be able and confident enough to manage deals/agreements independently. The role will involve working alongside the key business departments - Production, TV, Digital, Physical Formats and Cinema/Events. The Business Affairs department deals with all matters involving the production of concerts/documentaries to the distribution & exploitation of the finished programme across many different platforms. Candidates are likely to have a minimum of 5-6+ years PQE and must be comfortable operating at Senior Legal Counsel or Head of Legal level. Ideally you will have some music experience, combined with Film &/or TV exposure, as well as strong drafting / negotiating skills.
