The Firm

Our client is a leading Commercial Law Firm. They have been recognised as a leading South East law firm by Chambers and the Legal 500, with several of their Partners acknowledged as leaders in their field and recommendations across all core practice areas.

The Role

As part of the Firm’s succession plan, they are seeking to appoint a candidate at Partner or Partner-designate level to take over the leadership of the Private Client Department and further develop this side of the business.

Key Responsibilities

* Play a leading role in departmental and firm wide business development and marketing initiatives, activities and events

* Responsible for the management and development of the Private Client team of professional and support staff

* Responsible for creation and development of client relationships

* Providing specialist advice on inheritance tax planning, trusts and other family matters

* Advising on and drafting wills, codicils, power of attorney, care for the elderly and enduring powers of attorney and trusts

* Advising on administration of estates, declaration of trust and inheritance tax planning

* Keeping abreast of changes in the Tax Trust and Probate arena and ensuring the team are kept up-to-date

* Ensuring that systems and working practices are kept up-to-date

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

* Minimum 4 years’ experience at senior level as a Private Client lawyer

* Experience gained in a leading City or regional law firm

* Good technical skills in Trusts, Probate, Estate and Tax Planning.

* Strong interest and/or experience in tax highly desirable.

* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

* Experience of managing and developing a team.

* Track record of successful marketing and business development

* Track record of developing new client relationships and winning business

* Computer literate.
