Job: Consumer Credit Solicitor

A strong brand in the field of credit cards and loans is currently looking for a senior lawyer to join the well-built legal team in a management capacity. Based in the North England office of a huge international bank, this role will deal with all areas of regulation surrounding consumer credit and consumer protection laws on new and existing regulated and non-regulated products for the UK and Ireland. As well as managing two qualified solicitors this will be a hands-on role and will demand an active involvement in the day to day relationships with customers. You will be advising on the new consumer credit directive when it becomes live next year together with the implementation of other local laws and regulatory codes. You will advice on consumer credit related delivery channels, advertising law, changes to terms and conditions and any acquisitions undertaken, together with the ongoing compliance in these areas. You will be involved in risk and legal committees and be responsible for CCA compliance reports.

The successful candidate for this role will be a qualified lawyer with at least 6 years experience. Previous in-house experience is a must and ideally you will have managed a small team before. Consumer credit, data protection and consumer finance experience is also essential. You should have worked with retail or commercial banks before and more specifically credit cards, loans and insurance products. You will need to be able to communicate well with senior management, juggle a heavy workload and work well to deadlines.
